How To Use An Ooni Pizza Oven

Ooni pizza ovens are perfect for making yummy authentic pizza. If you love outdoor pizza ovens, especially when they require little fuss, then you need an Ooni oven. They reach a temperature of 500˚C in just 15 minutes, perfect for cooking a yummy pizza in 60 seconds!

We offer three different Ooni ovens. They are the Karu, Fyra and Koda pizza ovens. Each one is different as one is powered by gas, one by wood and one is multi-fuel. So, this means each one is lit and used slightly differently. In this blog, we will take a closer look at the Ooni pizza ovens and how to use them.

Ooni Karu pizza oven

Ooni Karu Multi-Fuel Pizza Oven

The Karu 12 Pizza Oven is multi-fuel so this means that it can be powered by wood, charcoal or even gas! This means that you have maximum flexibility whilst cooking. It’s a portable oven at just 12kg, so it is perfect for any family event or party. Just because it is smaller doesn't mean that it compromises on quality, the Karu oven has all the power of a much larger pizza oven.

How to use the Karu Pizza Oven

The Ooni Karu comes with a wood and charcoal burner, you can choose to have a gas burner as well but this is an optional extra. This pizza oven is really easy to light just follow these three simple steps.

1. First, remove the chimney cap. Open the chimney and ceiling vents then attach the door.

2. Then remove the hatch and create a layer of charcoal/small stack of wood in the burner. To light it either use a gas blowtorch or a natural fire-lighter.

3. Once the oven is lit, keep slowly adding more fuel. Make sure you replace the hatch. The Karu oven will need to be preheated for 10-20 minutes.

Ooni wood pellet pizza oven

Ooni Fyra Wood Pellet Pizza Oven

The Fyra 12 Pizza Oven uses hardwood pellets. This keeps the pizza oven at a consistently high temperature and requires little maintenance. With this oven, you can make tasty wood-fired 12” pizzas in 60 seconds. The ultra-portable Fyra weighs just 10kg, why not take it on your next camping trip?

How to use the Fyra Pizza Oven

The Ooni Fyra outdoor oven has a gravity-fed hopper. This automatically feeds through the hardwood pellets, creating an effortless cooking experience. Ooni are all about creating a no-nonsense experience when it comes to outdoor cooking. All you have to do is follow these four simple steps.

1. To create optimum airflow remove the chimney cap and make sure the chimney vent is open. Make sure you keep the door open unless you’re adding or removing food.

2. Next remove the grate and fill it with two handfuls of pellets.

3. Add your fire starter to the front of the grate, making sure to avoid anything that will add unwanted flavours. Light the fire starter and push the grate back in.

4. Give the pellets time to ignite, you can look through the viewing hole in the door to check. Keep topping up the pellets gradually until you reach the top of the hopper. Maintain this for consistently high temperatures.

Ooni Koda pizza oven

Ooni Koda Gas Powered Pizza Oven

The Koda 12 Pizza Oven is gas-powered to give you an easy cooking experience. The Koda outdoor oven is all about no stress and tasty pizzas. This pizza oven is easily controlled with a heat control dial. This pizza oven also requires little upkeep as there is no fuel residue to clean! There’s no fiddly set up, just take your oven out of the box and connect it to a propane tank.

How to use the Koda Pizza Oven

The Koda oven is powered by gas; it is compatible with large propane tanks, the ones you would normally use for a BBQ, or a 1lb propane tank with a suitable adaptor. Just follow these steps and you’re ready to make pizza!

1. First, make sure the heat control knob is in the OFF position. Then turn the liquid propane cylinder valve ON by turning counterclockwise slowly.

2. Push in and slowly turn the knob anticlockwise until you hear a click. You should see the burner ignite.

3. If the burner doesn't ignite, turn the knob OFF and just wait five minutes and repeat the above steps.

It really is as easy as that! Ooni knows that time is precious, which is why they made their ovens to create pizza in 60 seconds. They want outdoor cooking to be simple, enjoyable and of course tasty. What are you waiting for? Order your Ooni Pizza Oven today!!
